1. Does the staff have a valid CPR and First Aid?
Yes all of our staff has a valid CPR and First Aid.

2. How is the staff screened?
The staff is screened by reference, security clearance, and child registry checks.

3. What qualifications do we look for in our staff?
We look at experience and education. We look for compassionate, honest and dedicated staff.

4. Do we direct bill Services For Children With Special Needs or do we bill the family?
We direct bill Services For Children With Special Needs if a family has a contract. If the family does not have a contract for their special needs child/children the family is directly billed.

5. If there is sibling care involved during the respite service that is responsible to pay?
The family is responsible for the sibling care. We send out the invoice at the end of each month.

6. Is there consistency with the Home Support Worker?
Yes there is. A family does not get a different worker for every shift it is always the same one. The only exception to this is illness or late booking.

7. Do we work with typical children?
Yes we do work with typical children. Your child does not have to have special needs.

8. Do we work with children that have medical needs?
Yes we do work with children that have medical needs.

9. Do we work with children that have behavioral challenges?
Yes we do work with children that have behavioral challenges.

10. How does your Intake service work?
The first time a family calls we take all the information such as the child's/children's disability, age, behavioral concerns, medical concerns, times of respite, type of respite etc. With this information we then match the family to the Home Support Worker.

11. How do you decide who works with a family?
This is based on the information given by the parents about their child. We then match the staff based on their experience and education.

12. Does the family meet the Home Support Worker before he/she begins to provide respite to a family?
Yes we have a meeting that involves the whole family, Home Support Worker, Corinne and Kathy. The family and the Home Support Worker then decide if they want to work with each other.

13. What happens at the meeting?
At the meeting all the information is shared about the child, the family’s expectations of the Home Support Worker, the routine that is to be followed and the times the family would like to have respite. The Home Support Worker also shares information about him or herself. Corinne and Kathy are there to meet the family, offer any assistance and support during the meeting. It is at this meeting the family and the Home Support Worker decide if they want to work together. It is also an option to have the Home Support Worker come in for a trial shift to see if there is compatibility.
